What are Lyophilized Mushrooms?
Lyophilization or cryodesiccation (aka Freeze Drying), is a low temperature dehydration process that involves freezing the freshly picked mushrooms and lowering pressure, removing the ice by sublimation. This is in contrast to dehydration by most conventional methods that evaporate water using heat. Because of the low temperature used in processing, the rehydrated mushrooms retain much of their original qualities and the process does not affect the mycelium membrane. They also last up to 4 years as opposed to 4 with dehydrated mushrooms.
Lyophilized Mushrooms are up to 2 times more potent than dehydrated, so ensure that you take a smaller dose than you may be used to with the dehydrated mushrooms and work your way up slowly as you find your tolerance.
